With 20 years experience Lester Coloma has contributed to the creative landscape with over 100 large scale murals across North America. These hand painted works feature a prominent community driven component and are awarded commissions varying from corporate clients to local art projects and from casino murals to grass roots festivals.
Public and private commissions have been executed on various substrates from canvas, reclaimed materials to direct wall application. Production is crafted by hand with the care and precision of artist grade materials and supplies.
The inspiration of process stems from the excitement of the potential to reach mass viewers through creative means and by the challenge to clearly communicate concepts in simple visual terms. In addition, learning and building knowledge of a certain community, processes or concepts also inspires and creates better understanding and appreciation of a project’s scope.
Mastery in the creative field is a life long pursuit. His education is firmly rooted in Fine Arts and an AOCA from the Ontario College of Art and Design. Further studies have been sought though week long intensive creative classes, conventions and workshops in the USA and a one year intensive study of painting and art history in Florence, Italy.
A graduate of the illustration program from Sheridan College, Norman has spent his formative years working as a visual artist and graphic designer in Vancouver, BC.
For over 10 years he has collaborated on international projects ranging from designing and developing custom artwork for hospitality and retail spaces, to designing logos, marketing campaigns, annual reports and design research presentations.
Experience with both traditional and digital mediums allows him to explore a wide range of creative solutions to engage his audience. A recent move back to his hometown of Hamilton has sparked an interest in pursuing projects with his brother and fellow illustrator Lester.
